For The First Time In Forever by athenapallas87 For The First Time In Forever by athenapallas87
Anna from Frozen! She's one of my favorite new Disney characters. She, like Rapunzel, lead such an isolated life. They could have made her painfully naive, and instead she comes across more as genuinely excited by life and ready to launch head first into everything. She's sweet, but also smart and sassy. Sure, she makes mistakes, but she does so because she's so utterly without malice. Anna is so obviously in need of someone like Elsa, who needs Anna most of all. It's a beautiful story of sisters and love.

This is fabulous!  Probably my favorite fan art of Anna so far.  I love that you gave used a semi-realism style and still managed to capture her essence so well.  Great job.

Thanks a lot! I can't tell you how hard her expression was. Her smile kept coming out insane/creepy or too Mona Lisa. I really wanted to show that sweet smile of her personality, and I think it came through finally. It's means a lot to me that people have thought so too.

lol--I believe it!  Mouths are especially hard for me to draw too.  I can't imagine this picture having a smile like Mona Lisa's though...so you obviously did a great job fixing that issue.  :D

Just fabulous.  Keep up the good work.

This is amazing!! I've been trying realism and I fail in it.
You are an amazing artist!

Thank you so much! I still have a ways to go (I can't approach anything near photo-realism yet), but as always the key all boils down to "draw what you ACTUALLY see, not what you think you see" and that's something that takes time to learn how to do. Keep practicing, and I'm sure you'll improve like I have. =D Again, thanks for your kind words!

Great work!  I love this humanized version of Anna:) The colors are amazing and I love the background.  The eyes are gorgeous too.  Awesome !

Thanks a lot! I had a harder time showing Anna's personality, but it was fun trying to get a realistic version of an animation! Working on the two sisters really helped me work on my technique for eyes, so I'm glad they look good. :D

Her story is definitely interesting.  I appreciate that they did not spell everything out to fully characterize her.  We were provided with a few tidbits that allow our imaginations to fill in the blanks in a way that feels believable, which is essential to Anna's character, being so approachable, familiar, and down-to-Earth.  The two things that really do it for me, about her, are her interactions with the paintings that portray social interactions that she assimilates and the "minimal staff," which could have had any amount of influence on her education and socialization.  Neither sister is painfully naive.

You did very well to capture and express Anna's essence without the use of huge, adore-me, Disney eyes.
